Today I want to talk about something we can all relate to—the vulnerability of being human. No matter how invincible we might feel at times, it's crucial to remember that life is incredibly precious, and our health, both physical and mental, deserves the utmost respect. I hope that sharing these thoughts with you will offer some valuable insights. So, keep reading to find out more.

Welcome back to consecutive day 1607 of my diary of a Runpreneur journey. For those of you who are new here, my mission is to save the lives of children by attempting the ultimate ultramarathon through run vlogging every day. This mission covers the distance of a lap around the world, done barefoot. If you believe in this mission as much as I do, please subscribe, share, like, and comment. The more people we reach, the more money we raise, and ultimately, the more children's lives we save. This is why I do this every single day. So, let's get started.

Today's topic is all about the vulnerability we all share as human beings. If you're reading this, it's highly likely that you are a human being yourself, so we've got that in common right off the bat. It's incredible how many of us coast through life, fearless and brave, without worrying about the potential health issues we might face, whether they are mental or physical. While that positive outlook is admirable, reality has a way of reminding us that we aren't invincible.

I'm 42 years old now, and in the past four to five years, I've attended at least one funeral every year for someone my age or even younger. It's heartbreaking. Many of these deaths could have been avoided, ranging from suicides to freak health-related issues and accidents. These experiences serve as sobering reminders of just how precious and fragile life is.

The reason for today's discussion comes from a friend I saw today. He has been dealing with severe mental health challenges over the past few months, to the point where he was hospitalized and nearly sectioned. The amazing thing is that he's come through this dark period, and we spoke about how this experience, awful as it was, has given him a powerful perspective. Having faced such adversity and come out on the other side, he now has an experience that makes other challenges in life seem manageable by comparison.

This conversation was a reminder for me as well. Adversity is something we all face at different points in our lives. What's important is how we deal with it and use those experiences to become stronger and more resilient. It was incredibly refreshing to speak with someone who was open about his struggles, which is something men, in general, don't do often enough. We're all human beings—regardless of gender or identity—and we all have vulnerabilities. Sharing them can be a powerful tool for overcoming adversity.

Personally, I'm not great at opening up in one-to-one settings, but what I do have is this vlog. It’s a platform where I openly share my vulnerabilities daily, and that’s been incredibly therapeutic for me. There are three main areas of health: physical health, mental health, and a third that often goes unmentioned—coping with stress. Stress is a silent killer and can wreak havoc on both our physical and mental health if not managed effectively.

From my diary, the learnings for today are clear: human beings are vulnerable, and sharing our vulnerabilities can help us overcome adversity before it gets too extreme. When problems aren't shared, they can lead to tragic outcomes like suicide. It's essential to understand our vulnerabilities and manage stress levels proactively. For me, running and this vlog serve as outlets to cope with stress and share my challenges, which has had a profoundly positive impact on my well-being.
