Hold up. Before you scroll past—take a moment to picture a world where AI and robots rule the workplace, traditional jobs vanish in a flash, and the future our kids inherit is wildly different from the one we knew growing up. Sound dramatic? It’s not science fiction. It’s happening faster than any of us realise.
Welcome back to my diary—day 1856 of the Runpreneur Challenge. I’m Kevin Brittain, and if you’re a parent like me or simply care about the next generation, today’s insights could be the eye-opener you need. As I strive towards the epic goal: going beyond Day 4,292, conquering a whopping 40,075 km barefoot around the globe, and raising £1,000,000 for children’s causes, I’m driven by more than just distance—I'm obsessed with giving our children the tools to thrive in a changing world.
Why Agency Is the Golden Ticket for Our Kids
After witnessing the sheer slickness of a driverless cab in an entrepreneurial video this week, it hit me like a train—jobs as we know them are vanishing SO fast. You’ll hear plenty about the wonders of artificial intelligence, but what does that mean for our kids, for their jobs, their livelihoods?
We were schooled for a world that no longer exists. The education system trained us for roles that were stable, predictable. Today? So many of those jobs will be wiped out by AI and robotics. That’s just a fact.
So here’s the deal: The #1 skill our children need isn’t memorising facts or regurgitating equations. It’s agency. That fierce self-drive to get stuff done, push through adversity, and actively make things happen—especially when it’s tough, unfamiliar, or outside their comfort zone.
The Truth About the Future: Adapt or Be Left Behind
It’s not about enforcing military discipline or boot camps. I challenge my kids—aged 10, 12, and 14—not to quit when they hit a wall, but to find new ways to overcome it. Problem-solving, resilience, thinking outside the box—these are the superpowers the next generation absolutely needs.
If our children can embrace change, leverage AI as a tool rather than a threat, and find solutions where others see obstacles, they’ll OWN the future. The breadline and the benefit system aren’t going away. But those who develop entrepreneurial spirit, agility, and agency will rise above.
My Two-Part Blueprint for Your Family
Want your children to thrive, not just survive? Teach them this:
Learn and harness AI—now. The age of artificial intelligence is here to stay. Early adopters will be streets ahead of the competition.
Develop unshakeable agency. Being a self-starter, tackling problems, pushing through discomfort, and moving forward when it’s hard—this is the difference between those who flourish and those who get left behind.
Join My Mission – Change Lives
My journey goes beyond ultra running and fundraising. It’s about teaching our children to be future-proof, to exploit opportunity, not run from it. If you share my mission to raise £1,000,000 for children’s causes, spread the word, support our challenge, and let’s prepare the next generation for a future they can master, not fear.
