Navigating the Dark and Negative Side of Business
Welcome back, everyone! Today marks consecutive day 1255 of my daily vlogs, and I appreciate you all for sticking around through this entrepreneurial journey. If you haven't yet, please remember to subscribe, share, like, and comment. Your support truly fuels this endeavor.
I often share the upsides of our new cafe business—it's been a thrilling ride and I'm genuinely pleased with how things are progressing. Yet, today, I felt it was necessary to shed light on the darker, more intricate side of business. Social media tends to be flooded with the glitz and glamor of entrepreneurial success, but less frequently do we talk about the challenges and setbacks that are an inherent part of this journey.
To keep it real, as my long-term mentor advised, it's crucial to stay grounded. He always told me that while celebrating wins is fine, it's important to remember that the lows won't be as catastrophic as they might appear either. Every encounter is, after all, an opportunity to grow.
Take my experience with our property business, for instance. Initially, investing in the social housing sector seemed beneficial, offering guaranteed income and government-backed security deposits. But as time went on, those guarantees dwindled, leaving us with quite a mixed bag of tenants—some striving to reintegrate into society, and others, less reliable, taking advantage of the support systems in place.
Partnering in this business hasn't always been smooth sailing either. The financial returns weren't sufficient to sustain both parties, leading to the eventual agreement to part ways. I harbor no ill will towards my former partner; personal circumstances necessitated the move, and I fully supported it. Nonetheless, this departure has left me with a slew of issues to handle during an already hectic period in my life.
Compounding the challenge is the fact that a key team member is currently grappling with long-term health and personal issues. Their situation adds another layer of complexity at a time when my plate is already overflowing.
Despite these challenges, I am reminded of the importance of resilience. The entrepreneurial journey is a roller coaster—you ride the waves when things are going well and grit your teeth through the rough patches. One method I find particularly helpful is running. Today, after dealing with a stressful encounter, my run served as a mental reset. It helped me process the situation calmly and cleared my mind.
In conclusion, remember that it's okay to encounter bumps along the road. Every challenge is an opportunity for growth, and keeping a balanced view is essential. Whether it's through exercise, meditation, or yoga, find your own mechanism to reset and tackle whatever comes your way with renewed energy and focus.
Let's continue to ride this entrepreneurial wave together—celebrating the highs and learning from the lows. Thanks for tuning in, and don't forget to check out the link below for more updates!
Stay grounded and keep moving forward.
Best,
Kevin Brittain
