Embracing the Future: My Initial Thoughts on
the Apple Vision Pro
Hello everyone!
Welcome back to another day of my journey, specifically consecutive day 1547 of run vlogging around the world barefoot. If you're new here, I'm on a mission to save the lives of children by attempting the ultimate ultra marathon, and I document every step of the way. You can help by subscribing, sharing, liking, and commenting. More people mean more awareness, and ultimately, more lives saved. Now, on to today's topic – my initial impressions of the Apple Vision Pro.
Just recently, I made an impulse purchase that I didn't see coming. After returning from my holiday, I went to the Apple Store to pick up my MacBook Pro, which was in for repair. While there, I was offered a demonstration of the Apple Vision Pro. Half an hour later, I walked out with the Vision Pro and its travel case. It set me back £3500 for the device and an additional £200 for the travel case, which felt essential since I wouldn’t want to risk damaging such an expensive piece of technology during transit.
First and foremost, the Apple Vision Pro is indeed very expensive. So, why did I get sucked in? To be quite frank, the demonstration was absolutely breathtaking. Whether you're into videos, photography, gaming, or movies, this device will blow you away. It features spatial awareness software, a technology you might know from the AirPods Pro, but taken to an entirely new level. This means you’re not just consuming media; you’re immersed in it. Whether you're looking at photos or watching videos, it feels as if you're actually there, which can make revisiting moments with loved ones who’ve passed on particularly moving.
The Vision Pro essentially brings virtual reality to the mainstream. With technology advancing so quickly, we have two choices: embrace it or resist it. Personally, I choose to embrace it. This way, I can stay ahead of the curve rather than playing catch-up later on.
I bought the Vision Pro mainly as a productivity tool to enhance my business operations and levels of productivity. Imagine having as many virtual monitors as you want scattered around your workspace. For someone like me, who often juggles multiple tasks, this could be revolutionary. However, I'm still on the fence about its overall productivity value. One significant limitation is the current software quirks and the limited number of apps available. Nevertheless, Apple's track record suggests that software updates and an expanding app ecosystem are just around the corner.
In the near future, I plan to offer a more thorough review once I've had more time to explore the device. At the moment, my initial feedback points towards its strength as a tool for immersive media experiences such as photography, videos, movies, and gaming. However, I do see enormous potential for productivity enhancements and creating virtual workspaces, which is where I'm particularly interested in taking it.
One major lesson I've learnt is that when significant technological advancements emerge, such as VR headsets, you must embrace the change. Playing catch-up is far from ideal, especially with technologies poised to reshape our daily lives.
Of course, not all technological advancements are created equal. Some are mere fads, but I firmly believe that VR headsets are here to stay. So, is the Apple Vision Pro a justified purchase? Time will tell, but my initial experience has been overwhelmingly positive.
Do you have any questions or comments about the Apple Vision Pro? Drop me a line! I respond to everyone. And remember, your engagement helps my mission of saving children's lives.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Stay positive, stay happy, and I'll see you again tomorrow.
Best,
Kevin Brittain
