Celebrating Milestones: Why 1,650 Consecutive Days of Running Deserves Recognition
Welcome back to another entry in the diary of a Runpreneur. Today marks 1,650 consecutive days of running, and I've been pondering whether this particular milestone, with an emphasis on the "50," is one worth celebrating.
When I embarked on this journey, even 50 consecutive days of running seemed monumental, yet here we are at 1,650 days, over four and a half years later. It’s a long time not to miss a single day. Throughout this streak, I've averaged seven and a half kilometres daily, which comes to about four and a half miles each day. This kind of consistency isn't easy to come by, and as the numbers go up, it becomes easy to overlook how significant they truly are.
In the early days, milestones seemed to come so quickly: hitting a week, then a month, then three months. Eventually, you’re celebrating every significant digit — another 1,000 kilometres, another month or three. The reality when you reach a streak as long as mine is that every milestone is worth celebrating.
I reflect fondly on the sheer scale of what this journey represents. I've metaphorically run from Cambridge to places as far as the Philippines, and now, as distance would have it, I might be somewhere along the western coast of Australia. It's not just the distances but the adversities that make these milestones significant — overcoming illness, stress, and life's daily challenges while maintaining this streak.
So why celebrate these milestones? It's because these feats have required tenacity and resilience, traits that are tested every day. Celebrating them acknowledges the obstacles overcome and the problems solved. Life is a series of challenges, and for every problem resolved, others will arise. That's the nature of life. These runs are not just about reaching the next goal; they are about recognising the journey.
In conclusion, 1,650 days of consecutive running is absolutely a milestone worth celebrating. It's not just another number but a testament to perseverance and dedication. Every achievement in this journey serves as a reminder of the challenges faced and the milestones achieved. Celebrate your milestones, not as final goals, but as part of a larger journey towards personal growth.
