Celebrating 10,000 Kilometers: A Major Milestone
in My Running Journey
Welcome back to my journey, Runpreneur followers! Today marks an incredible milestone in my life: the completion of 10,000 kilometers of running over 1249 consecutive days. And trust me, there's every reason to have this massive beaming smile on my face!
Reflecting back, it’s almost surreal to think I’ve run 10,000 kilometers while vlogging and adhering to my distinctive barefoot running style. To put it in perspective, my ultimate goal is to run the distance equivalent to a lap around the world, which is 40,075 kilometers. So far, I’ve clocked in around 25% of this distance. That’s essentially a quarter of the journey around our big, big world!
Engaging in this monumental effort has been nothing short of transformative. It’s taken me three and a half years of steadfast commitment, averaging about seven and a half kilometers every single day. During this period, I've run across various countries, braved diverse weather conditions, and persevered through numerous personal challenges. But it's all worth it. The sense of accomplishment and the boost in my mental health has been beyond rewarding.
Let's break down the feat: I’ve essentially run 1,010 10-kilometer runs back-to-back. That's also equivalent to 2005 5-kilometer runs over consecutive days—a figure that even leaves me astounded. Running is a challenge in itself, and doing it daily while vlogging and carrying weighted equipment? It adds an extra layer of difficulty. But here I am, reaching this magnificent milestone that I'll undoubtedly remember for a lifetime.
It's important for me to highlight that it doesn't matter whether you’re running at a fast pace or a leisurely jog, the essence lies in putting on those running shoes and hitting the path. Everybody, no matter their speed or shape, deserves massive respect for their efforts. For many, running five kilometers can be a gigantic achievement, often requiring an eight to sixteen-week training programme. Having accomplished the equivalent of 2005 five-kilometer runs straight is staggering even for me.
There were times when the challenge seemed insurmountable, especially when I dealt with injuries like plantar fasciitis, which often sidelines runners for up to two years. Yet, I pushed through it for five months, running every single day despite the pain. My journey wasn’t just physical but emotional and mental, facing adversities like illness, including Covid, and various other obstacles. But now, I stand stronger and more resilient, with my mental health in an excellent place.
Not many people have run 10,000 kilometers consecutively, and I can confidently say very few have clogged the experience as well. This rare and unique journey has elevated my belief that I'm among the best in the world at this challenge. While it might sound a bit big-headed, I think I’ve earned a little self-praise today.
From my diary today, a few takeaways are clear:
1. Celebrate Wins: Achievements, big or small, deserve recognition and celebration. I’m still figuring out how I'll celebrate this week, but acknowledging my victory feels fantastic.
2. Cherish Your Purpose: If you are lucky enough to find a powerful purpose in life, hold onto it tightly. For me, this incredible journey is tied to a greater cause—raising funds to save the lives of vulnerable children. This mission gives my run a profound meaning and motivates me to keep pushing forward.
As I wrap up today’s entry, I feel immense gratitude for all the support I’ve received along the way. Your shares, likes, and comments mean the world to me. Here’s to another day and another run—together, we’ll keep going.
Thank you, and see you tomorrow!
