The Power of Evening Brainstorming Sessions
Hey there, fellow creatives! Today, I'd love to share my thoughts on why evening brainstorming sessions can be incredibly effective. If you're someone who struggles to spark creativity during the day but come alive as the night sets in, keep reading; this could be a game-changer for you.
My Evening Routine and Discoveries
First, a quick reminder—this is all part of my ongoing journey to raise funds and awareness through my consecutive day run challenge. Now, onto the topic at hand. For a long time, I overlooked the value of evening brainstorming. Despite knowing that I generally feel more productive in the evenings, I didn't fully embrace it. My energy levels and mental focus fluctuate throughout the day—a phenomenon known as "biological prime time."
By tracking my productivity over time, I've noticed a distinct pattern. I'm generally quite effective from around 9 AM to noon. However, post-lunch, I hit a slump and find the afternoons taxing. It's a struggle to maintain focus and generate creative ideas during these hours.
This is where evening or late-night brainstorming comes into play. If I manage to get back into work mode in the evenings—often around 10 PM or later—I experience a surge of productivity. This late-hour focus is particularly beneficial for creativity. I suspect the reason lies in the reduced number of distractions during these hours, freeing up mental space to innovate and brainstorm.
Creative Juices Flow Late at Night
As I'm writing this, it's nearing midnight. Yes, it's a late one for me, but my creative juices are flowing, and I couldn't be happier. During the day, or specifically in the afternoons, even coming up with a single creative idea feels like a Herculean task. In contrast, late-night sessions often yield a plethora of innovative concepts that I can't wait to implement.
To ensure I don't forget any late-night eureka moments, I use a simple hack. While running, I voice-message myself via my smartwatch, capturing ideas as they occur. This way, when I get home, I have a trove of thoughts to sift through and develop further.
A Powerful Resource
The key takeaway here is that evening or late-night brainstorming sessions can be a powerful resource, especially if they align with your biological prime time. You've probably heard of the "5 AM Club," where people wake up super early to get a head start on their day. But there's less talk about the productivity of those who thrive after regular working hours.
Ultimately, the aim is to find a time when you experience the fewest distractions. For many, including myself, creativity peaks either early in the morning or late at night. If you're like me and more of a night owl, give late-night brainstorming a shot. You might find that it's the best time to get your creative juices flowing.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. If you've got any questions or comments, feel free to drop me a line; I respond to everyone. And please, support my mission if you can. Every bit helps as I continue my ultimate ultra marathon of run blogging every single day.
