The 4x4x48 Ultra Endurance Challenge: Run 1 Kickoff
Hello, everyone. It’s Kevin Brittain here, and today marks the official start of an extraordinary journey—the 4x4x48 Ultra Endurance Challenge. For those of you who might not be familiar with this Herculean endeavour, it's a challenge conceptualized by the great David Goggins. The essence of it is simple yet grueling: run four miles every four hours for 48 hours.
Why are we doing this, you ask? The driving force behind our marathon effort is a brave ten-year-old girl facing a family illness. The goal is to raise as much money as possible to help prolong and delay the debilitating symptoms of this horrendous condition she battles every day. Knowing the cause adds a sense of purpose and urgency to each step we take, knowing that we're working towards helping children and their families cope with the unimaginable.
This morning, we kicked off the first run—four miles starting at 10:00 AM, Friday, 21 June. We have additional runs scheduled throughout the day at 2:00 PM, 6:00 PM, 10:00 PM, and so on. As you can imagine, it's going to be a strenuous 48 hours, but we are ready for the challenge, and I’m thrilled to have everyone here with me.
Before we set out, we took a moment for everyone to gather at the starting spot, filled with excitement and anticipation. A wave from the crowd captured the spirit of camaraderie and support. A big shout-out to Sam, who will help pace the group and control the energy levels as we push forward.
For me, and I believe for all the participants, the real inspiration comes from the young girl we are supporting. As we tackle this physical and mental trial, her daily battles are a humbling reminder of the tribulations faced by children and their families dealing with severe illnesses. No matter how much pain or fatigue we experience, it pales in comparison to what she endures daily. This realization keeps us motivated, propelling us to put one foot in front of the other, mile after mile.
Remember, every step we take during this challenge is a step towards making a difference. If you’re reading this and feel inspired, any donation you make will go directly to children’s causes. Your support means the world to us, and it brings hope to those who need it the most.
We’ll be sharing more updates and interviews as we progress through the challenge. Stay tuned, and thank you so much for your unwavering support. Let’s do this together!
Cheers,
Kevin Brittain
