Penultimate Day of Our Holiday in North Germany:
A Roller Coaster of Experiences
Welcome back to another entry in my Runpreneur diary. Today, we’re on day 1158 of consecutive posting, and it’s also our penultimate day on our memorable family holiday in North Germany. I invite you to subscribe, share, like, and comment as your support helps us raise more money for my mission to save children's lives via the ultimate ultramarathon. You can find all the details about this challenge in the link in the comments below. Now, let’s dive into my latest adventure.
Running in North Germany: A Therapeutic Delight
I’ve always enjoyed running, but North Germany has added a new layer of beauty to this beloved routine. I’ve been running the same route in alternating directions each day, and I can confidently say that I’ll never get bored of it. The long stretch along the coastline is just breathtaking and incredibly therapeutic. If you ever find yourself in this region, lace up your running shoes—you won’t regret it.
A Day with Family
Today, we ventured off to see my cousin and his new wife, who tied the knot over the weekend. Spending time with them has been a definite highlight. This holiday has offered a splendid mix of German culture, new experiences, and quality time with both immediate and extended family. From driving to different destinations without always knowing what’s around the corner to engrossing ourselves in local festivities, it has been a rewarding journey.
Holiday Not Without Responsibilities
While the holiday has been fantastic, it hasn't been entirely stress-free. Work managed to sneak its way into my vacation, with important transitions happening in the business, including a change in software systems. Although it was somewhat annoying, I always remind myself that having significant things going on is ultimately a good sign.
The Running Scene in North Germany
If you’re a runner or cyclist, North Germany is a paradise. The landscape is similar to Holland with fantastic infrastructure for outdoor activities. While the terrain isn’t particularly hilly, it offers just enough variation to keep the routes interesting. The weather has been quite odd—swinging between torrential rain and bright sunshine—which adds its own set of challenges, especially the humidity.
A Dive into Local Nature
Our Airbnb host, a forester who also manages a museum and aquarium focused on the Baltic Sea, treated us to an educational tour. It was fascinating to learn about the varying salt levels in different parts of the Baltic Sea and how these conditions create unique environments for different species. It was an enriching experience and added an educational twist to our holiday.
Lessons from the Penultimate Day
Today has been a bit of a mixed bag of emotions. The diverse activities—from social gatherings with extended family to scenic runs and educational outings—have genuinely enriched my experience here. My key takeaway? When you travel, strive to engage in as diverse experiences as possible. It makes the trip richer and more fulfilling, even if it leaves you a tad exhausted.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to drop me a line—I respond to everyone. Don’t forget to subscribe, share, like, and comment.
