Let’s be brutally honest: How many times have you packed your suitcase, finally escaped with your loved ones, only to have your phone buzz and—BAM!—you’re dragged back into “work mode”? One email ping, one message alert, and suddenly your brain’s in the boardroom instead of the Highlands or the Med. I’ve been there, and if you’re anything like me—a business owner, entrepreneur, or someone whose work-life is never truly “off”—keep reading. Because today, I’m revealing the game-changer that’s set to take my journey, the Runpreneur Challenge, to the next level AND help me smash through my target of raising £1M for children’s causes worldwide.
From Marathon Miles to Mindset Battles: The Real Disruption
I’m Kevin Brittain and, as many of you know, I don’t just run businesses—I literally run every single day as part of fundraising for children’s charities. This week, I found myself in the beautiful Falkirk, hot off the heels of the Edinburgh Marathon, only to face a much tougher test: work distractions on holiday! Despite being in Scotland with my family, relishing time post-marathon, little work pings threatened to pull me away from what matters—my loved ones and making memories.
Here’s the truth: It’s not just bad news that interrupts you. ANY work message, good or bad, can drain your energy, shatter your holiday focus, and leave you feeling like you never left the office at all. But here’s what changed everything for me: understanding the power of an Executive Assistant (EA).
Why Every Entrepreneur Needs an Executive Assistant—NOW
People think Executive Assistant (EA) are glorified secretaries or just day-to-day admin support. That’s old school. A HIGH-LEVEL Executive Assistant is transformational. Right now, I’m transitioning between Executive Assistant (EA), and let me tell you—I can feel the difference. Normally, nothing reaches me unless it’s truly urgent, because my EA filters out the noise, manages my calendar, triages emails, and even deals with messages across WhatsApp, socials, post… everything.
Their role? To act as a gatekeeper—protecting my time, allowing me to focus on ultra-high-level work, strategic decisions, AND, crucially, giving me peace of mind to switch off with my family. When you’re away, those little distractions? 95 out of 100 times, they are NOT emergencies. They simply slip through if you don’t have the right systems (or person) in place.
The EA Advantage: Unlocking Focus, Freedom, and Fundraising Success
I’m not just talking theory. As I push towards DAY 4,292 of the Runpreneur Challenge (that’s more than 11 years of daily running—barefoot or bust!), targeting a total distance of 40,075 km (the distance of a lap of the world!), and driving towards my mission of raising £1,000,000 for children’s charities—my EA will be essential.
Here’s why you should care—even if you’re not a run-obsessed fundraiser! If you struggle to disconnect, if your work follows you on holiday, or if you’re missing the moments that really matter, you need this role in your life. An EA is not just about admin—they keep you aligned, make sure nothing slips through the cracks, and transform how you operate.
Ready for Change? Don’t Miss This Opportunity…
I’ve waited too long to rebuild this support. If you don’t want to look back on your next holiday (or even your life) and regret not being present, this is my wake-up call for you.
