Exploring the Beauty of St. Peter's Pool in Malta:
A Family Adventure
Today, we had the pleasure of exploring St. Peter's Pool, located on the south-eastern tip of Malta. If you're planning a trip to Malta, be sure to check out the link in the comments below to watch the full episode of our visit—it might just be the useful guide you need. As we continue on consecutive day 1614 of my journey to save the lives of children by attempting the ultimate ultramarathon run, vlogging daily about my adventures, it's visits like these that bring life to this mission. Remember, the more people we reach, the more funds we raise, and the more children's lives we can save. So, don't forget to subscribe, share, like, and comment.
Our day started from our base in Mellieha, situated in the northwestern part of Malta. Thankfully, we have a car, which makes it easier to travel around the island. Despite Malta being relatively compact, it still took us about 35 minutes to journey from one end of the island to the other. On our way, we stopped by a charming fishing village called Marsaxlokk (though I struggled a bit with the name initially). This quaint spot is brimming with fresh fish eateries and a bustling market during the day, along with many boat tour options that take you around the bay to places like St. Peter's Pool.
Instead of taking a boat tour, we decided to hike to St. Peter's Pool because of the overcast weather. Trust me, it was worth every step. St. Peter's Pool is not your average pool; it's a captivating bay that's carved into the rock, featuring an inviting plunge pool at its centre which resembles a tranquil lagoon with crystal clear waters. The spot gets its name because it's a popular location for people to dive off the rocky edges into the pool below—a thrilling experience for both kids and adventurous adults.
The experience of hiking up to the pool is enhanced by the spectacular views from the hills, where you can see miles around. The fishing village that we passed through is equally picturesque, decorated with numerous colourful old-school rowing boats that add to its charm. It's an ideal destination for families, especially if you have kids who are a bit older—mine are 10, 12, and 13, and they absolutely loved it. It's also relatively safe, without the risk of hidden rocks that often accompany such natural swimming spots.
From today’s diary entry, I’ve learnt the importance of choosing family-friendly activities when you're away. St. Peter's Pool provided a perfect blend of excitement and natural beauty that both adults and kids could enjoy together. The thrill of jumping into the plunge pool from about five or six metres high into the stunning, crystal-clear water was a highlight for us all.
For any family planning a visit to Malta, make sure to include St. Peter's Pool in your itinerary. It's an experience that caters to everyone, bringing joy to both young and old alike.
