Celebrating a Key Milestone: From Cambridge, UK
to Northwestern Australia
Hello, fellow running enthusiasts and supporters! Today, I’m beyond excited to share a significant milestone in my journey of running around the world. It's truly a mind-boggling moment for me, as I hit a new distance landmark that really highlights how far I’ve come in this epic adventure.
For those new to my journey, I’m Kevin Brittain, and I’ve embarked on the mission of running the distance of a lap around the world while documenting the experience. This mission is more than a personal challenge; it’s about saving the lives of children. By running ultra-marathons barefoot and vlogging my daily progress, I aim to raise awareness and funds for this noble cause. So, if you believe in this mission as much as I do, please subscribe, share, like, and comment on my content. The more people we reach, the more money we raise, and ultimately, the more children’s lives we save.
Now, back to the big news—today marks the 1454th consecutive day of my running journey. To give you some context, I’ve run roughly 11,500 kilometers so far, and I went ahead and mapped this distance to see where it would take me if I were running in a straight line from my home in Cambridge, UK. To my awe and excitement, I discovered that I could reach the northwestern point of Australia! Yes, you read that right. From Cambridge to the northwestern edge of Australia, all in just under four years.
Reflecting on this, it’s pretty cool yet slightly daunting when you think of how massive our planet truly is. The total circumference of the Earth along the equator is about 40,075 kilometers. So, despite reaching this incredible milestone, I’m reminded that I’m not even a third of the way through my goal. This milestone is just a small piece of the bigger picture, accentuated by the vast Pacific Ocean’s breadth that lies ahead.
However, I’m immensely proud of this achievement. In four years of consecutive daily running, while documenting and promoting this cause barefoot, reaching this distance is something I hold dearly. It’s not just about the distance; it’s a testament to dedication, perseverance, and the incredible support I’ve received from all of you.
Lessons from today’s milestone? Celebrate your wins, no matter how big or small. They are the stepping stones that keep us moving forward. As I reflect on these 1454 consecutive days, I realize the value of every single day and every single kilometer. From Cambridge to Northwestern Australia, this journey has been nothing short of remarkable.
To celebrate this achievement, I’m taking a small break—a holiday to Ireland next week to visit family and explore the northern coast around the Giant’s Causeway. It will be a refreshing and meaningful way to savor this victory.
Thank you all for your unwavering support. Remember, stay positive, stay happy, and keep following the journey. Together, we are making a difference.
See you tomorrow!
