Welcome back to the Runpreneur Blog, where every step counts towards saving children's lives! As I journey past Day 1,830 of my ultimate ultra marathon, aiming to smash past Day 4,292, a 40,075km distance goal, and £1,000,000 raised for children's causes, I want to take you behind the scenes of what really keeps me going.
Today, I wasn’t feeling it. The dread of yet another run weighed heavy. But as I rounded a familiar corner, the sun danced across a field maybe wheat, maybe barley (forgive my farming ignorance) and for that split-second, the entire world felt… perfect. The spectacle of light glimmering over young crops, a scene so spontaneous and so rare, made every hard day worth it.
Have you ever come across a sight so stunning, so unexpectedly beautiful, that it turned your whole mindset around on the spot? That’s what happened today, and I’m betting many fellow runners can relate.
I’ve run through 20+ countries. You’d think I’d see awe-inspiring landscapes daily, right? Honestly, these wow moments are few and far between. Out of 1,830 consecutive days running, only a handful have struck me like this. And here’s the magic, these aren’t always in the Pyrenees or atop Everest. Sometimes, beauty appears right on your doorstep, when you least expect it.
Remember Forrest Gump running across America reflective lakes, golden fields, soaring mountains? Today’s view felt like my personal “Forrest Gump moment.” It lifted me right out of a rut, reminding me that even mundane runs can deliver unforgettable highs. It’s these unexpected gifts from nature that fuel my mission.
Here’s what running (and life) has taught me: The anticipation of doing something is often far worse than the reality—and sometimes, that reality is unfathomably uplifting. Today, a run I didn’t fancy transformed into a memory that will last forever. It’s precisely these moments that reinforce my belief in showing up, no matter your mood.
Because my mission goes beyond burning calories—it’s about raising £1M for children’s causes, one step, one spectacle at a time. Every share, comment, like and subscribe brings us closer to that goal. The more people we reach, the more children’s lives we can save.
Have you ever experienced a moment like this on your run? Or maybe in your daily life—a moment that changed everything, unexpectedly? Drop your stories in the comments. Let’s build a community fuelled by resilience, positivity, and life-changing moments—on and off the path.
Support the mission: Subscribe, share, and spread the word. Every single engagement helps raise the money that saves children’s lives.
