Today is day 2,147 of my daily run, and day five of a 30-day AI business experiment. The question I set myself is plain. Is this possible: take one business concept from build, to launch, to delivery, to profit in 30 days, with AI doing 90% of the workload? I do not know yet. Five days in, I have enough to report on where things stand, and where I am unsure.
Five days is 16.67% of the challenge. By the calendar I am a sixth of the way through.
The website is in progress. AI recommended WordPress with WooCommerce and a hosting setup, and I have followed those recommendations. The domain is added. I expect a functional version next week, with the e-commerce side and SEO in place so people find the business on Google and through AI models. Advertising is coming to those platforms, and I want to be ready before it arrives.
The launch plan exists, with a project management tool to show where we are ahead and where we are behind. Beyond this, I have built several operating systems:
A leadership dashboard with a 31-day cash flow forecast. A real-time profit and loss view, where AI reconciles transactions and feeds both the forecast and the statements. A task and project management system synced to my calendar. AI looks at my workload and working hours, then schedules my day around our objectives. A weekly kanban view shows team capacity, so nobody is overloaded. An inbound communications system. AI manages the inbox, drafts replies for the team to approve, and pulls invoices into the financial system so we know what we owe and what has been paid. A content machine, built by my team, which takes a long video and cuts it into shorter formats with captions, listings and thumbnails. This still needs my sign-off.
I have also started thinking about a notes and ideas tool to replace Evernote. Evernote has served me well, but the interface feels clunky for what I need now. I have only dabbled, so I am not counting this as progress.
When we find a gap in the launch, we build something to fill the gap. Then the build becomes a product we can sell. We use each system to run the experiment, and the same system becomes a candidate to offer other people. This is the part I did not plan for. The onboarding for these systems needs tweaking before they are ready to sell, so I am not claiming they are finished.
Systems and processes are my strength. I know the pain points, and I think in logical structures. Marketing is my weakest area in business. It is the part I enjoy least, and the results show this. I am relying heavily on AI to lift this side of the business, and I have no evidence yet to say whether this will work.
The commercial side is also still ahead of me: how leads arrive, how I take them through the sales process, how onboarding works, and how we collect payment. Building the product is one task. Running the business is another. I want to be honest about the gap between the two.
I do not believe in a lap of the world on day one. Nobody does. Belief comes from evidence stacking up, one run after another. Day 2,147 brings my total to 16,491.58km, with 23,583.42km left to reach 40,075km. No single run proves the mission is achievable. The streak does.
The experiment feels the same. Five days gives me a website taking shape, a plan, and working systems. Five days does not give me a profitable business. But progress I can see is starting to build belief, and belief matters when you take a concept from idea to a real business. I would rather hold belief based on visible progress than on hope alone.
Perspective matters here too. Thirty days is short next to my vision of running every day for 16.5 years. The experiment has a deadline. The streak does not. I treat both the same way: small daily steps, tracked honestly, with no pretending about where I stand.
This vlog is part of a fundraiser. I am running barefoot-style on consecutive days, aiming to cover the distance of a lap of the world, and I want to raise £1M or more for children's causes, including Great Ormond Street and BBC Children in Need. The more people I get in front of, the more I raise. This is why I record every day, including days when the topic is a business experiment.
If you are building a business with AI, tell me what has worked and what has not. If you want me to test a specific part of the process, such as marketing or lead handling, say so in the comments. I will report back at day 10 with what is built, what is not, and what has gone wrong. If you find this useful, watch, subscribe and share. Every extra person who sees the run helps the mission.
