Swallowing Your Pride – The Importance of Asking for Help
Ever felt like you’re carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, trying to handle everything alone? I know that feeling all too well. Today, I want to share something raw and real from my Runpreneur journey—a lesson that’s changed the very trajectory of my mission to go beyond Day 4,292, run 40,075km around the globe barefoot, and raise £1,000,000 to save children’s lives.
Why Asking For Help is the REAL Superpower on My £1M Mission
When I set out on this monumental challenge, I never imagined the true battles would happen off the running track. My biggest obstacle wasn’t distance or pain—it was my own pride.
Pride can be a double-edged sword. When I was cruising through the highs, I loved the feeling. But the moment things went wrong? I was ashamed to admit it. The idea of asking for help made my skin crawl. Isn’t that ridiculous? So many of us carry this silent load, terrified of rejection or being seen as ‘not enough’.
But here’s what I’ve learnt after thousands of running days and too many silent struggles: the world is FULL of people who want to help. Yet, most of us suffer in silence, too proud to accept it.
The Harsh Truth: Pride Rarely Does Any Good
Let’s get real—pride is one of those deadly sins for a reason. Holding onto it stops you from reaching out, from progressing, from recovering faster when life knocks you down.
My journey, with its countless ups and downs, has proven one thing: having the right people around you in tough times makes ALL the difference. When you swallow your pride and reach out to qualified, experienced, compassionate people, you bounce back from life’s blows so much quicker. We’re not supposed to be experts in everything, so why pretend? I KNOW firsthand, most fears about rejection or looking silly vanish the moment you open up.
Bounce Back Quicker—Don’t Suffer in Silence
Ever been stuck at rock bottom, wondering how to claw your way out? I have. And every single time I’ve been brave enough to ask for help—even when it felt humiliating—it’s brought fresh energy, practical advice, and most importantly, genuine support.
So here’s my commitment, not just to myself but to YOU: I’ll keep asking for help when I need it, no matter how tough it feels. If you’re watching or reading this, and you think I can support you with my experience, please reach out. DON’T let pride or fear hold you back from asking for help that could change your life.
Be a Part of Something Much Bigger
Every run I share, every piece of advice, every kilometre clocked—this isn’t just for me. It’s for the children whose lives we can change together. Supporting my mission isn’t just about cheering for a barefoot runner doing something bonkers. It’s about joining a community that believes in helping others, refusing to let pride stand in the way of progress.
Let’s do this together. Subscribe, share, comment, and let’s get this message out there. The more we grow, the closer we get to saving more children’s lives and smashing that £1,000,000 target!
