Today is Day 1926 of my consecutive running streak. As I head out on the road, I am continuing my mission to run 40,075km the equivalent of a full lap around the world to raise £1M for children’s causes.
But today, the challenge got a little steeper. Today is Day 1 of a 90-day sugar fast
The Pursuit of Clarity
I’ve decided to strip away refined sugar to sharpen my focus and improve my overall health. When you are running every single day in barefoot-style footwear, you quickly realise that your body is your only engine. You become hyper-aware of how your diet impacts your recovery, your joint health, and your energy levels.
In my world, health and mental wellbeing are protected assets. To maintain a streak that is projected to last over 16.5 years, I cannot afford to be hampered by the "noise" of energy crashes or poor nutrition.
Discipline Beyond the Miles
This isn't just about the physical run. As an entrepreneur and systems architect, I believe in removing the "fluff" from every operation. My businesses thrive on efficiency and logic, and I realised I wasn't applying that same ruthless honesty to my own biology.
Discipline is a muscle. By saying "no" to the easy hit of dopamine from sugar, I am strengthening the same resilience I need when I’m 20km into a run on a wet Tuesday morning.
Why the Mission Matters
Every decision I make, including this sugar fast, is filtered through one question: Does this help save more children's lives? Raising £1M requires me to be at my absolute best mentally, physically, and strategically.
The mission is bigger than a craving. It’s about building a movement and inspiring others to see what is possible when you commit to long-term consistency.
Day 1926 is in the bag. The sugar is gone. The mission remains.
