Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to run from Cambridge all the way to the wilds of Western Australia—WITHOUT EVER TAKING A BREAK? Well, that’s not just a wild thought experiment for me. Today, I hit a massive milestone: 14,000km of daily consecutive running.
But let’s be clear—this isn’t just about clocking up miles. This journey is about saving children’s lives. My goal? To conquer a lap of the world, barefoot, running EVERY DAY, covering 40,075km, and raising £1,000,000 for children’s causes. And as I power through to Day 4,292 of the #RunpreneurChallenge, I want to bring YOU along for every single stride.
Just How Far Is 14,000KM? It’ll Blow Your Mind!
Let’s put this into perspective. Today, I’ve run the equivalent of:
Cambridge, UK to Western Australia—as the crow flies!
Or, if you like, from Cambridge to Miami and back again.
That’s almost five years of daily running, averaging 7.5km every single day.
No excuses. No days off. Come rain, shine, illness, or injury—I’ve laced up and hit the ground running, literally.
Celebrating Wins—Why This Matters More Than Ever
In all honesty, when you’re in the thick of a multi-year challenge, it’s easy to get lost in the grind. In the beginning, every week, every month felt HUGE. Hitting 1,000km or a full year was exhilarating. But now—as I reflect on 14,000km—it’s a timely reminder: Celebrate your milestones!
Here’s why it matters:
Milestones prove you’re moving forward, even if it’s just one day at a time.
They’re not just about self-congratulation, but a check-in with your “why.”
For me, this isn’t about personal glory—it’s about the children’s lives we’re impacting together.
So today, I urge you: Whatever your challenge—big or small—pause and acknowledge your achievements. If you don’t, who will?
The Real Struggle—And Why I Keep Going
People ask me all the time, “Kev, how do you do it?” The truth? It’s hard. It’s relentless. This is top 1% stuff. Out of 100 people lining up to do what I do, maybe one would make it this far—if that.
I’ve battled illness, injuries, travel chaos, even failures completely outside my control. Yet, the daily minimum is 5km, and most days, I push well beyond that. Even ahead of marathons, I drop to 5km to let my legs recover—but I NEVER SKIP A DAY.
And here’s the mad thing: 14,000km feels huge... but I’m not even a third of the way around the world yet. It’s daunting—yet thrilling. The journey continues until I hit 40,075km, and I’ll keep going till my 50th birthday (mark your calendars, that’s about seven years away!).
